General Foundation Programme (GFP)

Department: English Language Centre   Description: The GFP is offered in three semesters: • Semester 1 (Beginners Level & Elementary Level) • Semester 2 (Pre-Intermediate Level & Intermediate Level) • Semester 3 (Upper Intermediate Level & IELTS+EAP or ESP+EAP) The classes are simultaneously conducted in two shifts: Morning Shift – 08.00 am – 01.00 pm Evening Shift – 04.00 pm – 08.30 pm   Entry Requirements: The Placement Test for General Foundation Programme at the ELC is conducted twice a year and the students are placed according to the following criteria: • Candidates scoring less than 49% are placed in Semester 1 • Candidates scoring between 50%-69% are placed in Semester 2 • Candidates scoring 70% and above are placed in Semester 3           Contact: The Director English Language Centre Tel: 24502288 Ext 306 / 103 Fax: 24505826 E-mail: info@cbfs.edu.om   top

University of Bradford – Foundation Programme

Department: English Language Centre   Description: The University of Bradford Foundation Programme is a Pre-degree course to qualify students for entry into degree programmes offered by CBFS in association with the UK university. The advantage is that the students exit with a Certificate in Combined Foundation Studies, which qualifies them for degree programmes of many UK universities. The 24-week course is divided into 2 semesters, each semester is 12 weeks. There are six modules taught (three in each semester) and each of the 6 modules is worth 20 credits – a total of 120 credits over the year. This is the standard credit value of any one year of a degree programme. Department: English Language Centre   Description: Executive training is an integral part of ELC, which caters to the need of various organizations and provide custom-designed courses as when there is such a demand in the areas of Banking, Computing, Mathematics and Insurance. Some of the recently offered courses include: • Business Communication • Presentation Skills • Customer Service Skills • Report Writing Skills • IT Skills Also, in coordination with the Executive Training Department, the faculty members with relevant experience in these areas design and deliver courses at various parts of Oman.
